French climate tech startup Khimod has recently secured €23 million in funding to advance its Power-to-X (PtX) technology. The funding round, spearheaded by Bpifrance’s SPI Fund and Audacia’s Industrial Decarbonisation Fund, emphasizes Khimod's potential to disrupt the clean energy sector. At the core of Khimod's innovation lies the Heat Exchanger-Reactors (HERs), compact units that utilize green hydrogen and CO2 to produce clean synthetic fuels such as e-methanol and e-methane, as well as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). By targeting hard-to-decarbonize industries, Khimod aims to significantly reduce emissions. The funding injection will facilitate the scaling of projects like Thor in France, Pegasus in Italy, and Avebio, Khimod's inaugural SAF production facility set to launch by 2025. Khimod's modular and efficient approach positions it as a key player in the green energy transition. By offering scalable Power-to-X solutions, Khimod is poised to lead the shift towards sustainable energy in Europe with practical, cutting-edge technology.
