Abu Dhabi-based Ocior Energy has successfully secured a bid to supply 5,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited's Visakhapatnam refinery in Andhra Pradesh, India. The project, valued at ₹328 per kg, excluding GST, is structured on a build, own, operate basis for a 25-year period. This initiative signifies HPCL's proactive approach towards replacing grey hydrogen with more sustainable green alternatives. Ocior Energy will be responsible for establishing the green hydrogen unit and integrating it seamlessly with HPCL's existing infrastructure. The bid marks a significant milestone in the transition towards renewable energy sources within the refinery industry, showcasing a commitment to environmental conservation. The project follows similar endeavors in the sector, such as L&T Energy Green Tech Ltd winning a bid to construct a green hydrogen plant at IOCL's Panipat refinery.
