Adani Group has launched India's first hydrogen-powered truck for mining logistics in Chhattisgarh, marking a significant step towards cleaner and sustainable transportation. The truck, capable of carrying 40 tonnes over a 200-kilometre range, was flagged off in Raipur by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. This initiative is part of Adani Group's commitment to decarbonization and responsible mining practices. The hydrogen-powered trucks, developed in collaboration with energy technology firms and auto manufacturers, are set to gradually replace diesel vehicles in the company's logistics operations. The deployment of these trucks is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions and promote environmentally friendly transport solutions. The state-owned Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited has appointed Adani Enterprises for the Gare Pelma III block's mining operations, showcasing a partnership focused on sustainable energy practices. Adani Group aims to lead by example in adopting green technologies by incorporating hydrogen fuel cell technology into cargo transport. By utilizing smart technology and three hydrogen tanks, these trucks match diesel vehicles in range and load capacity while emitting only water vapor and warm air with minimal noise. Adani Natural Resources and Adani New Industries Limited, both entities of Adani Enterprises, are jointly working on the project. ANR will procure hydrogen cells from ANIL, which is actively involved in various green energy initiatives like wind turbines, solar modules, and battery manufacturing. The use of hydrogen, an abundant element with zero harmful emissions, in mining logistics will not only reduce carbon footprint but also contribute to lowering India's oil imports. This transition to cleaner fuels is aligned with Adani Group's vision of setting new standards in sustainable mining practices while ensuring affordable and reliable electricity for all. The project signifies a major leap towards decarbonization and responsible mining, with the incorporation of innovative technologies like autonomous dozer push systems and solar power generation. Adani Natural Resources, known for its diversified business portfolio ranging from integrated resources management to minerals and metals processing, is at the forefront of embracing green technologies in the mining industry.
