AM Green, supported by the founders of Greenko Group, has joined forces with the Port of Rotterdam to establish a green fuel passageway linking India to Northwestern Europe. The alliance aims to enable the annual trade of up to 1 million tonnes of green fuels, such as green ammonia and sustainable aviation fuel, amounting to nearly $1 billion. By signing a memorandum of understanding, the two entities plan to create a green energy supply chain connecting India's budding green hydrogen production clusters with Europe's primary energy gateway, the Port of Rotterdam. The collaboration will concentrate on fuel bunkering and sustainable aviation fuel supply, as well as organizing essential terminal facilities in Rotterdam and across the broader European supply chain to facilitate the secure and effective distribution of hydrogen-based fuels from India to Europe. AM Green's ambitious target includes developing 5 million tonnes of Green Ammonia production capacity by 2030, with initial operations set to begin at the green ammonia facility in Kakinada in the second half of 2026. This project, valued at ₹12,500 crores, will involve a green hydrogen production unit and an ammonia conversion plant within a repurposed urea facility. The first phase will focus on exports to Europe, with agreements already in place with major buyers like Uniper, Yara, and Keppel. The partnership with the Port of Rotterdam signifies a step forward in achieving India's green hydrogen mission and Europe's decarbonisation targets. The collaboration is pivotal in establishing a sustainable global energy ecosystem, facilitating the smooth movement of green fuels from India to Europe, and positioning AM Green as a key player in the international clean energy transition.
