Hyundai Motor India has partnered with Indian Oil Corporation to conduct real-world tests of the Nexo Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) in India. The collaboration aims to explore the mass-use viability of hydrogen FCEVs in the country. Over a two-year trial period, Hyundai and Indian Oil will evaluate the vehicle's longevity, operational reliability, and total cost of ownership over an estimated 40,000km distance on Indian roads. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two companies signifies a significant step toward assessing the economic and environmental benefits of adopting hydrogen-powered vehicles in the Indian market. The Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India highlighted the importance of combining world-class hydrogen fuel cell technology with Indian expertise to make green hydrogen accessible, affordable, and sustainable. Both companies expressed confidence in demonstrating hydrogen's potential as a sustainable fuel source for the future. Indian Oil, as a key player in India's energy sector, views hydrogen fuel as integral to India's clean energy roadmap and aims to contribute to achieving net carbon neutrality and reducing fossil fuel imports through fuel cell technology advancements.
