The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has extended the deadline for bid submissions for its green ammonia production and supply contract to June 30, 2025, from the original date of June 26, 2025. This extension aims to facilitate broader participation and ensure robust proposals for the initiative under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The tender, falling under the SIGHT Scheme, aims to secure the annual production and long-term supply of 724,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia for 13 identified fertilizer plants in India. By transitioning to green ammonia produced with renewable energy sources, India aims to reduce its carbon footprint in the agricultural sector and decrease reliance on imported fossil fuels, aligning with its goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. SECI's role in aggregating demand, facilitating long-term offtake agreements, and de-risking investments for green ammonia producers is crucial in accelerating the growth of the green hydrogen derivatives market in the country.
