Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated a cutting-edge electric locomotive factory in Dahod, Gujarat, equipped with advanced sensors, representing a major advancement in India's railway modernization efforts. The factory, capable of producing locomotives with modern design and 9,000 horsepower, is set to start exporting in three years. This initiative is seen as a revival for Dahod, which was once a prominent locomotive manufacturing hub. The project, launched in 2023, signifies a strategic move towards high-tech electric engines, with a rapid increase in manufacturing speed anticipated. Additionally, PM Modi launched a series of development initiatives in Bhuj, Kutch, amounting to over Rs 50,000 crore. This underlines Gujarat's evolution as a global green energy hub. India's electricity capacity has almost doubled to 472 GW, with a target to boost renewable energy output to 500 GW by 2030. Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing renewable energy production. During the event, PM Modi also announced plans for a green hydrogen factory, emphasizing the country's transition towards clean fuel for transportation. This move showcases India's dedication to leveraging homegrown technology and places Kutch at the forefront of global renewable energy production.
