Ineratec, a German cleantech company, has unveiled ERA ONE, a groundbreaking Power-to-Liquid plant in Frankfurt-Höchst, Europe's largest of its kind. The plant is set to produce up to 2,500 tonnes of carbon-neutral e-Fuels annually, marking a pivotal moment in the transition towards sustainable mobility. By utilizing CO₂ from biogenic sources and green hydrogen, ERA ONE will produce synthetic crude oil that will be processed into sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF), e-Diesel, and other products. The plant's location in Frankfurt-Höchst enables the direct sourcing of feedstocks - CO2 from a nearby biogas plant and hydrogen as a byproduct of chlorine production. The modular design of Ineratec's plants allows for efficient expansion of production capacity, with plans to significantly increase annual production by 2030 to meet regulatory requirements such as the ReFuelEU Aviation regulation. ERA ONE has received substantial financial support, including a €40 million venture debt from the European Investment Bank and a €30 million grant from Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, highlighting its strategic importance in decarbonizing challenging sectors. The project has also garnered support from various investors, underscoring its potential for driving innovation and industry development in the cleantech sector.
