Cadiz Inc., based in California, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UK-based Hoku Energy Limited to develop a significant clean energy campus at Cadiz Ranch in the Mojave Desert. The agreement grants Hoku Energy a three-year exclusive option to develop the project on more than 10,000 acres at Cadiz Ranch, potentially encompassing green hydrogen production facilities, renewable power generation, battery storage, and digital infrastructure like data centers. This marks the second prospective land lease for clean energy development by Cadiz Inc., showcasing its commitment to sustainable land and water asset development. The agreement also supports existing commercial activities at Cadiz, including agricultural operations and a green hydrogen production facility partnership with RIC Energy. Susan Kennedy, Chair of Cadiz Inc., expressed that the partnership with Hoku Energy aligns with their mission of sustainable energy and water infrastructure development. The abundant infrastructure at Cadiz Ranch, including water resources and pipeline corridors, makes it a prime location for large-scale renewable energy and data center projects. The collaboration with Hoku Energy and the previous agreement with RIC Energy are set to establish Cadiz Ranch as a prominent clean energy campus and green hydrogen production hub in North America. This initiative not only aims to generate significant lease revenue and water supply sales but also to support sustainable operations and data center developments, contributing to the growth of clean energy initiatives in the region.
