During the World Asia Hydrogen Conference 2025 in Tokyo, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg of Sarawak passionately presented Malaysia's first hydrogen-based hybrid energy facility, located in the rural health clinic of Long Loyang. This innovative facility operates solely on solar power and rainwater-generated hydrogen, setting a precedent for clean energy solutions in remote areas. Abang Johari highlighted the clinic's significance as a real-life example of green innovation making a tangible difference in communities. The project aligns with Sarawak's broader efforts outlined in the Sarawak Hydrogen Economy Roadmap (SHER) launched earlier in the year. Notable achievements in the state's clean energy transition, such as the H2biscus and H2ornbill projects, along with a substantial 72% reduction in grid carbon emissions between 2010 and 2023, have positioned Sarawak as a leader in Malaysia's sustainable energy landscape. Premier Abang Johari extended an invitation to the global energy sector to collaborate with Sarawak, emphasizing the state's commitment to driving innovation, fostering inclusivity, and achieving shared prosperity through green energy initiatives.
