India has taken significant steps in green hydrogen development, showcasing a strong commitment to renewable energy. The country has allocated substantial production and manufacturing capacities to green hydrogen, emphasizing its vision to achieve 5 million metric tonnes of production by 2030. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched with an initial allocation of $2.4 billion, aims to avert nearly 50 MMT of CO2 emissions annually, attract significant investments, and create over 600,000 jobs. Various initiatives, including the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme and exemption of plants from environmental clearance, highlight the government's support for the sector. India aims not only to meet domestic demand but also become a major global exporter of green hydrogen by 2030. With the identification of Green Hydrogen hubs at major ports and state policies supporting green hydrogen, India is set to play a significant role in decarbonization and renewable energy on a global scale.
