Proteus Energy, a Singapore-based clean energy provider, has unveiled the Proteus Maritime Fuel Cell Solution for the maritime sector. This innovative system, developed in partnership with Symbio France, features modular hydrogen fuel cell stacks that can be combined to meet varying power requirements for harbor craft and vessels in different maritime segments. The Proteus®75 system offers 75 kW output per fuel cell stack and is designed to address the industry's need for clean energy solutions. Dr. Lars Gruenitz, CEO of Proteus Energy, highlighted the system's high energy density, compactness, and lightweight nature as essential qualities for vessels with space and weight constraints. The collaboration with Symbio France brings decades of hydrogen fuel cell expertise to the maritime industry, ensuring reliable and proven technology. The maritime fuel cell solution not only complements electric propulsion but also enhances hybrid vessels by extending their range and improving battery efficiency. To ensure safety and efficiency, the system will come with a two-year performance guarantee. Additionally, Proteus offers high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks for convenient onboard hydrogen storage, along with customized refueling solutions for port operators. Proteus aims to start delivering the Maritime Fuel Cell Solution from January 2026, with DNV type approval expected by the end of the year. By leveraging Symbio's gigafactory in Lyon, France, Proteus can meet the increasing demand for hydrogen fuel cell stacks without compromising quality. The introduction of hydrogen fuel cell technology into the maritime sector represents a significant step towards decarbonization efforts and sustainability in the industry. With a focus on innovation, reliability, and performance, Proteus Energy is poised to transform the maritime sector's energy landscape.
