Toyota has unveiled its latest innovation in the world of rallying by introducing the GR Yaris Rally2 H2 Concept car, which runs on hydrogen fuel. This concept car is designed to be showcased at Rally Finland, starting on July 31. The car is a modified version of the GR Yaris Rally2, featuring an internal combustion engine powered by compressed hydrogen. This technology aims to reduce emissions while maintaining the traditional characteristics of an internal combustion engine, such as the engine sound. Toyota has been actively involved in the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles for rallying, having previously competed with a hydrogen-fueled Corolla in Japan's Super Taikyu circuit racing series. The GR Yaris H2, an experimental vehicle based on a road car, was also developed by Toyota and demonstrated at the Ypres Rally in 2022. The new concept car was created by the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team in Jyväskylä and has undergone testing on local roads. It will be presented on the opening stage of Rally Finland by Jari-Matti Latvala, showcasing Toyota's commitment to innovation and sustainability in motorsport.
