Doosan and Korea Western Power Collaborate on Korean Medium-Sized Hydrogen Power Plant Turbine Development
Key Ideas
- Doosan Energy and Korea Western Power signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a Korean medium-sized hydrogen power plant turbine and cooperate on entering overseas markets.
- Doosan Energy will handle the development of the hydrogen plant turbine technology and mass production of related parts, while Korea Western Power will demonstrate the turbine by applying it to new power plant constructions.
- The collaboration aligns with the government's clean hydrogen power generation policy and aims to establish a stable foundation for hydrogen power generation, with plans to involve domestic small- and medium-sized companies in overseas market expansion.
- Doosan Energy is actively working towards developing hydrogen turbines, with the goal of completing the 90MW and 400MW hydrogen station turbines by 2028 to contribute to carbon-free power generation.
Doosan Efficiency and Korea Western Power have announced a collaboration to develop Korean hydrogen power generation technology, specifically focusing on a medium-sized hydrogen power plant turbine. This partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed at Doosan Efficiency's Changwon headquarters. Under this agreement, Doosan Energy will lead the development of the hydrogen plant turbine technology, aiming to generate 100% hydrogen and facilitate the mass production of relevant parts. On the other hand, Korea Western Power will demonstrate the developed turbine by integrating it into the construction of new power plants. The initiative is in line with the government's efforts to increase the use of clean hydrogen power generation and establish a reliable foundation for hydrogen power. Additionally, the collaboration plans to include domestic small- and medium-sized companies to venture into the overseas market for Korean hydrogen turbines. Jeong Yeon-in, vice chairman of Doosan Energy, highlighted the significance of developing a Korean medium-sized hydrogen plant turbine to ensure stable domestic hydrogen power generation. Doosan Energy is dedicated to ongoing research for hydrogen turbines and aims to complete the development of 90MW and 400MW hydrogen station turbines by 2028, further contributing to carbon-free power generation.
