The Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF) is embarking on a €1bn investment programme in climate-related ventures to support Ireland's climate goals. ISIF has allocated €160m to invest in this sector, with investments made through three distinct funds. The AP Ventures Fund III, receiving €28m from ISIF, focuses on hydrogen and carbon capture technology. This London-based fund aims to address constraints in the low-carbon value chain and promote the use of hydrogen and sustainable fuels for decarbonisation. Additionally, ISIF has invested €75m in the HitecVision New Energy Fund 2, managed by a Norway-based firm. This investment aims to mitigate climate change by supporting companies that can reduce global greenhouse gas emissions and increase renewable energy capacity. Another €58m has been allocated to the L&G NTR Clean Power (Europe) Fund, which invests in wind, solar, and energy storage assets across European countries to advance decarbonisation and energy security. The fund managers have successfully secured over €600m from institutional investors, showcasing significant support for climate initiatives. ISIF's Director highlighted the fund's increased commitment to climate investments, now totaling €2bn, underscoring the fund's dedication to backing projects that align with Ireland's climate objectives.
