Indian conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced plans to build and run the largest green hydrogen plant in India at a state-owned refinery in Panipat, Haryana. This plant, powered by renewable energy sources, is projected to manufacture 10,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually for a period of 25 years. The production process will utilize high-pressure alkaline electrolyzers. Subramanian Sarma, President of L&T, expressed the company's excitement over being at the forefront of India's green hydrogen initiatives. L&T views this endeavor as a strategic move towards leading the country's energy transition. By pioneering in the green hydrogen sector, the conglomerate aims to pave the way for widespread adoption of cleaner industrial processes at a significant scale. The project's success could potentially influence other refineries and fertilizer plants to embrace similar eco-friendly technologies.
