Edmonton International Airport (YEG), Canada's largest airport by land size and home to the country's first airport-based hydrogen hub, has joined the H2CanFly/H2CanadaEnvol consortium to advance hydrogen and sustainable aviation technologies. Situated in Edmonton, Alberta, a significant hydrogen production region, YEG is expanding its hydrogen hub to support the practical demonstration and deployment of hydrogen technologies. By aligning with H2CanFly, YEG aims to contribute its expertise to facilitate the use of hydrogen-powered aircraft and infrastructure development. The H2CanFly consortium, a collaborative Canadian initiative, focuses on accelerating hydrogen and electrification technologies in the aerospace sector to achieve net-zero emissions. YEG's president and CEO, Myron Keehn, expressed the airport's commitment to sustainable aviation and clean energy innovation. With more than 50 partners, including industry giants like Airbus and CAE, H2CanFly is driving infrastructure development, research, and training to support Canada's clean energy and hydrogen aviation future. YEG's involvement in this consortium and commitment to transitioning to net-zero emissions by 2050 demonstrate its dedication to driving meaningful change in the aviation sector.
