CRRC, a prominent Chinese train manufacturer, has been making significant strides in the development of hydrogen-powered trains. In late 2022, the company presented its first prototype of a hydrogen-powered train at the Chengdu plant, aiming for a top speed of 250 km/h. The train, designed for urban transport, was based on CRRC's high-speed Fuxing platform. Following this, in August 2023, CRRC unveiled a new version of its C series EMU with a similar design speed, further solidifying its commitment to sustainable transportation. With continuous innovation, in InnoTrans 2024, CRRC showcased two new hydrogen train models - a hydrogen-powered MU and the CINOVA H2 model. These trains boast maximum speeds of 160 km/h and offer impressive claimed ranges of up to 1,000 km, highlighting the potential for long-distance eco-friendly travel.
