India's largest power company, NTPC, has signed an agreement with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) to advance the country's clean energy transition. The partnership aims to develop a comprehensive energy transition roadmap for NTPC that aligns with India's energy security, development priorities, and net-zero commitments by 2070. The roadmap will include modeling of various scenarios, estimating investment requirements, and identifying opportunities for diversification to cleaner energy systems. NTPC has been actively involved in pioneering various green energy initiatives on the ground, including green hydrogen pilot projects, floating solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage projects, pumped storage hydropower, and carbon capture and utilization efforts. The company has set ambitious targets, such as installing 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, showcasing its commitment to sustainability and reducing emissions. Established in 1975, NTPC has played a crucial role in powering India's industrialization and urban growth. With a significant share of the country's electricity production, the company has been a key driver of India's energy security. By increasing its renewable energy installations in solar, wind, and hydro, NTPC is contributing significantly to the country's green energy goals.
