John Cockerill Hydrogen, an engineering firm, has successfully raised $116m to propel the development of their next generation of pressurised alkaline electrolyser technologies. This funding round has attracted Fluxys, a Belgian infrastructure group, as a strategic partner who also acquired a stake in the operation. Additionally, the support from Belgian sovereign wealth fund SFPIM, regional body Wallonie Entreprendre, and tech companies like SLB and Technip Energies' joint venture Rely, further strengthens the company's position in the industry. With a previous financing round securing $230m in 2024, the current raise almost covers the required funds to expand their hydrogen business globally. John Cockerill Hydrogen is actively working on various projects and plans to execute them from its manufacturing centers worldwide. In Europe, the company has initiated large-scale electrolyser production at its facilities in France and Belgium, catering to prominent European clients. Furthermore, their collaboration with partner AM Green in India signifies involvement in delivering electrolysers for one of India's largest green ammonia projects. François Michel, the CEO, emphasizes the potential of pressurised alkaline electrolysers as a reliable technology for cost-effective production of green hydrogen using low-carbon energy sources.
