Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, addressed the 11th India Energy Storage Week (IESW) in New Delhi, emphasizing India's significant growth in renewable energy. The country's solar capacity has seen an exponential increase, contributing to a total renewable energy capacity of 227 GW. Minister Goyal highlighted initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and PM Kusum Yojana that aim to boost energy self-sufficiency through solar panels and solar pumps in agriculture. Moreover, he commended the efforts of the India Energy Alliance in promoting clean energy, storage technologies, green hydrogen, and e-mobility solutions. He stressed the importance of storage technologies like batteries, pumped storage, and geothermal in meeting India's future energy needs. Minister Goyal proposed a comprehensive approach to advancing India's energy independence, focusing on innovation, infrastructure development, supply chain resilience, and holistic value chain growth. He urged stakeholders to explore opportunities to scale up operations and enhance competitiveness to meet the target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. The event, IESW, serves as a crucial platform for discussing key innovations and policy developments in energy storage, e-mobility, and green hydrogen, essential for India's energy transition.
