Isotta Fraschini Motori, a subsidiary of Fincantieri in Italy, has unveiled a new production line at its Bari plant focused on hydrogen fuel cell systems. These systems will be utilized for naval and land applications. The first project involves installing a hydrogen fuel module on the Viking Libra cruise ship, marking it as the world's inaugural hydrogen-powered cruise ship. Fincantieri's investment of approximately 30 million euros aims to pioneer zero-emission technologies, reduce carbon footprint, and incorporate energy recovery solutions. The CEO of Fincantieri emphasized the strategic importance of this step in advancing marine technology sustainably and positioning hydrogen as a key element for competitiveness and decarbonization in the European production sector.
