At the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, YOUON JAPAN debuted hydrogen-assisted bicycles and solar-powered hydrogen refueling stations to facilitate staff mobility within the event grounds. These innovations, developed by YOUON Technology from China, signify the first real-world utilization of hydrogen mobility technology in Japan. The hydrogen bicycles operate on compact fuel cells, providing a travel range of 50-60 kilometers per charge and reaching speeds of up to 24 km/h. They feature user-friendly, tool-free hydrogen cartridge replacement, ensuring safety and convenience. Additionally, the refueling units leverage solar energy to produce hydrogen on-site, generating up to 250 liters per hour. This autonomous system fosters clean energy usage without the need for external infrastructure, significantly reducing the environmental footprint. As part of the Smart Mobility Expo, this initiative supports the core themes of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, emphasizing decarbonization, circular economy models, and the concept of a super-smart Society 5.0.
